Alligators are found all around the Hilton Head Island area. These amazing reptiles are typically found around freshwater areas, like ponds, lagoons and waterways. It is common to see alligators in the warmer months on the banks around the water sunning themselves. Keeping a safe distance of 60 feet or more is important as they are very fast when they lunge. Pets need to be kept at a safe distance as well.
