Rowing and Sailing Center Park Hilton Head

Where is Rowing and Sailing Center Park Located?
Located on the edge of Skull Creek, the Rowing and Sailing Center Community Park is in the perfect location for getting a start in the creek. The Rowing and Sailing Center Park can be accessed by taking US Hwy 278 (William Hilton Parkway) to the North end of the Island. Turn onto Squire Pope Road and you will see the park on your left, about 0.5 miles down the road. As you head down Squire Pope, you will also pass by Green Shell Park.
Riding a Bike to the Rowing & Sailing Center at Squire Pope
If you are carrying your kayak with you to the park to gain access to Skull Creek, you are likely not riding your bike. However, if you decide to ride your bike to this park, know that it is at the North end, where you enter Hilton Head after crossing the bridge. Depending on where you are staying, this could be a long bike ride. If you are staying closer to the North side, or you are up for an adventure, there are bike trails leading directly to the park.
Stationary Pier for Fishing
Locals and guests alike, love hanging out on the pier. Fishing is typically great at this location and Skull Creek is full of marine life. The Pier extends about 250 feet over the water and is also a great place to get some pictures of the area.
Kayak Launch
Bring your own kayak along and use the floating kayak launch to get out onto Skull Creek. Take your time and enjoy all of the wildlife around the marsh areas of the creek. Look out for dolphins as they are typically seen around Skull Creek.
Restrooms
On hot days, you can drink a lot of water paddling your kayak in Skull Creek. Public Restrooms make the Rowing and Sailing Center at Squire Pope Road very convenient.
Is the Rowing & Sailing Center a good Family location?
It can be. If you have kayaks you want to launch for everyone in the family, this is the perfect spot to do it. A large Picnic Pavilion with tables, chairs, and a fire pit, makes this a great family or friends outing.
Wildlife and Aquatic Life
Skull Creek also has a marsh area that summons many types of wildlife, including birds and dolphins. Take your camera with you but be sure it is waterproof or you are protecting it from getting wet. Pictures from your kayak can be priceless and add to the memories of your trip.
